Autumn/winter nail trends
August 14, 2013
So apparently we are due another heatwave soon but that doesn’t take away from the fact that the fashion world is gearing up for a new season and with autumn/winter just around the corner at Shumalia’s we want to make sure that you are ready to stay ahead of the fashion curve.
One great way if channelling a new season trend is with a great manicure. Not only is a manicure nice and relaxing but you can really have some fun with your look and not have to spend a fortune on designer gear. So what autumn/winter nail trends can we look forward to?
Ruby red lacquer
It’s a classic look that never seems to go out of fashion and this season is no exception for a classic look a red manicure could be the way to go. However, when it comes to finish it seems that if the Valentino catwalk is anything to go by the shiny, lacquered is the way to go for a glam elegant style.
However, if bright pillar box red isn’t quite your style you could take inspiration from Chanel where the models had wearable coral red manicures with just a touch of pink to them. Or for a new take on the trend you could take inspiration from Badgley Mischka and go for a red chrome manicure which thanks to its slightly matte yet metallic look is really sophisticated yet modern take on the red trend.
Vampy and dark
If you want something a little bit more edgy then why not go for either dark vampy colours or even black and there is plenty of inspiration on the catwalk. At Roland Mouret they had a fantastic vampish manicure in maroon with white diamonds drawn at the tips. While at Kenzo it was all about shiny black nails and for a matte take on the trend look to Daks who had black nails but in an almost blackboard style finish.
Now we know that dip-dyed hair has been a massive trend in recent years as has two-toned lips but now you can get the same effect on your nails. At the Vivienne Westwood Red Label show the models had a great dip-dye effect manicure with pink tipped nails fading into white.
When it came to accessories this season it was definitely a case of more is more and the same can be said for your nails. If you have a big party to go to or just want your nails to stand out then why not embellished them with gems and stones for a bejewelled look. Seen on the Libertine catwalk this manicure screams decadence so why not try it on your nails?
For a really show stopping manicure you could take inspiration from the House of Holland show where the models had a tortoiseshell manicure which is a perfect way of injecting some fun or something a little bit quirky into your look.
If you have been inspired by some of these nail trends why not visit Shumalia’s where we can do you the perfect manicure.
