With a New Year around the corner now is the time to start thinking about a new beauty look for 2013. A new year is a great time to reinvent your look a try something new so what are the key looks for next year?
A new hair cut or colour is the perfect way to update your look as lets face it you wear your hair everyday.
In terms of hair colour the big trend for 2012 was ombre and dip-dye hair but that is all set to change for 2013 – with the big trends for hair colour being veiling and flipping which sounds complicated but really take the ombre trend to the next level.
The idea of hair veiling is that panels of colour are hidden in the hair so that they can only be seen when you flip your hair from one side to the other. This gives your hair a versatile look as you get an edgy new colour that can easily be hidden should you choose to. While the flipped hair technique literally turns the idea of ombre on its head. Instead of an edgy colour at the ends flipping will see it at the roots instead so a vibrant red could be added to the roots of brunette hair and blondes can play with dusty pinks and pale blues.
In terms of cut and style the spring/summer 2013 catwalks threw out the styling tools and instead embraced natural looks such as loose braids, top buns and loose natural waves so in 2013 you can embrace your natural style.
2013 is a great time to experiment with your makeup style as the spring/summer catwalks had a number of new looks to choose from – just pick the one that suits you best or why not experiment with them all?
One look that will suit everybody is the fresh-faced look that was prevalent on the catwalks, especially at Toronto Fashion Week where a number of designers sent their models down the runway with no makeup on at all. It’s a really easy look to achieve all it takes is a sweep of blusher, some lip gloss and a bit of mascara and you have a fresh-faced springtime look.
However, if you are looking for something with a little bit more impact then there are plenty of looks to choose from. The trusty smoky eye made an appearance on the spring/summer catwalks. While dramatic eyeliner was the order of the day at the New York Fashion week with black used to rim the eyes.
While if you want to make the most of your mouth you could try a bold lip look. What’s more the ombre look will move to the lips – the idea is that you blend two shades of the same colour or more than one colour onto the lips. And the bold look doesn’t have to stop with the lips you can go for bright and bold colours on your eyelids too.
If 2012 was all about nail art and bright metallics or velvety manicures 2013 will see nails go back to basics with chic nude tones. London Fashion week saw a number of fresh looking nude manicures. So think beiges, mushrooms, taupes and even whites for a paired down look and of course there is always the French manicure for pure sophistication.
