December 12, 2012

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few months you couldn’t fail to notice that Christmas is nearly here and according to a new survey from Debenhams it is a time to wear more makeup.

The poll by the retailer found that for a festive night out women wear 12 cosmetic items of compared to just four on a normal day. But how can you make sure that your Christmas look is hitting all the right notes this year? Here is Shumaila’s guide to your party look.

Sort your brows

Strong brows are a key look this season. Gone are the days of the over plucked look and while the infamous Scouse Brow may not be the best look fuller brows are a key look this season. They were all over the catwalks of Louis Vuitton and Matthew Williamson and even royalty such as the Duchess of Cambridge have been showing how good a fuller brow can look. What’s more your eyebrows can really polish your look and anchor your face. So a good start to your Christmas look is by getting your brows shaped so they are looking their best for the party season. Getting them threaded is a perfect way to ensure they look great as your brows will be perfectly shaped to suit your face. While if your brows are pale getting them tinted can help add definition. When you are going out you should use a brow powder for extra definition and depth.

Work your lashes

There is nothing that makes you want to party then beautiful full lashes. Whether it through false lashes or a gorgeous voluminsing mascara having full flirty lashes can make you feel in the mood to party so make sure they stand out this festive season.

Try smokey eyes

Smokey eyes never go out of style and are perfect for the festive season. They are the perfect office to party look and are really simple to do. The idea is that there should be no harsh lines and instead you should blend your eyeshadows it all so it is smokey and sexy.

There is always glitter

There is nothing more festive then glittery or metallic looks. However, the key is to not go overboard as you don’t want to look like a drag queen. So keep it subtle with glitter eyeliner or sweep a metallic gold eyeshadow over your eyelids to add a bit of shine and shimmer.

Don’t forget the lips

One of the easiest ways you can transform your look from day to night is with lipstick. Whether it is with the classic siren red lip or this season’s hottest colour, a plum lipstick, it can change your look simply and easily. However, if you are going for a bold lipstick it is very important to not overdo your eye makeup as the whole thing together could be a bit too much.

As its Christmas it is a great time to experiment with a great new party look and if you are not sure what the best look for you is why not book in for a makeup session at Shumaila? That way can not only take the stress out of your Christmas party preparation but also show you a new style that could last you for many Christmas’s to come.
