Shumaila’s guide to hair removal

April 7, 2013

With the weather heating up we all might start to think about ditching the tights and wearing skirts instead of trousers but that means we have to spend more time shaving our legs. According to a new survey shaving our legs is one beauty chore us girls hate. found that more than 35 per cent of women resent the time they have to spend dealing with the unwanted hair. However, there are alternatives to the regular chore of hair removal. Here’s Shumaila’s guide to dealing with the unwanted fuzz.

Waxing is a great alternative to shaving as it effectively removes unwanted hair from the body but lasts far longer then shaving. The idea is that the hair is removed from the root so it leaves a clean, smooth surface with long lasting results. Another benefit of waxing is that the hair actually grows back thinner once it has been waxed as the hair is pulled from below the surface.

However, a lot of women worry it will be painful however, at Shumaila’s we have trained therapists who will make the process as comfortable as possible.

IPL laser hair removal

If you are looking for a more permanent solution then waxing, although the results are very long lasting when you get a wax, then you may want to look at IPL laser hair removal. IPL is an abbreviation of Intense Pulsed Light and is one of the cheapest and most effective way of removing unwanted hair from the body. It uses a band of multiple frequencies of light energy to remove the hair. It can be used for hair on either the face or the body and can treat hair of all textures and colours and over time will reduce hair growth dramatically so you won’t need to spend so much time removing unwanted hair.

However, if you want a truly permanent solution then electrolysis is the answer. In fact it is the only FDA approved solution for permanent hair removal – especially for thick and course hair. The idea behind it is that it targets the hair follicle rather than the pigment by sending a pulse of electricity through each follicle damaging the hair and the cells around it. Each session weakens hair growth and over time it will stop the hair growing completely so you will never have to shave again. However, it is a lengthy process and you will need repeated treatments in order for the effects to be permanent as the hair grows in cycles so you will need to treat it over the different growth periods. But it does mean that once the treatment is complete you will never have to invest time and money saving or waxing again which should end at least one or our beauty bugbears.

We all know that having to shave our legs every other day can be a complete pain as well leading to some discomfort. However, there are other solutions available which means you will be able to reduce the amount of time spent shaving.
