Spring Summer Makeup – How to get it right
March 16, 2014
No Makeup Makeup. Flawless, glowing, illuminated skin is on every girl’s wish list and this season it’s also all over the catwalk. Just as your wardrobe transitions from winter to spring, so should your skin and makeup regime. Foundation and concealer should be applied to cover flaws but skin should still look dewy with a ‘no makeup’ finish. CC creams containing SPF of 20 and above will your best friend in achieve this radiant, luminescent look that screams sunshine. To prep your skin for this au naturale look, a Guinot Facial Treatment will be unbeatable. A french facial and a beauty editor’s favourite!
Smokey Mess. This is a lived in make-up look, a smokey eye from the night before with smudged kohl and far from perfect application. A look frequently rocked by supermodel Kate Moss, finally we have a genuine excuse not to take our makeup off after a big night out! Line the upper and lower lid with kohl and smudge with a blender. Finish with lashings of mascara, bronzed cheeks and a nude pink lippie.
Pastel Please. The catwalks were awash with pretty pastel eyes for Spring/Summer, our favourite being mauves, pinks and lilacs, which work well on both dark and light eye colours. Apply the colour all over the lid and buff in. Also line the colour under the eye and apply lots of black mascara, nothing else! Invest in a pastel eye shadow palette or a few pastel eye shadows.
Sports Luxe. As seen at Victoria Beckham’s show, this simple style is the epitome of sports luxe. A sleeked back, low ponytail with a cotton hair band, the perfect lazy girl’s hairstyle that’s chic and fast! Invest in a black jersey headband or a floral print headband to add a pop of colour and an extra style statement to the look. It’s low maintenance, effortless and perfect to keep hair out of your face in the warmer months. Poker straight, glossy tresses that are tame and manageable are a must-have with this hair trend and nothing better than a Brazilian Blowdry will restore locks to their full glory.
Sleek Wet Hair. This spring summer makeup look is chic and tough all at the same time! The key is applying the right amount of product to the front and crown of the hair to make it look wet, not greasy. Comb hair into place and apply product, leaving ends dry. Set with some hairspray if needed. Albeit a daring, experimental look to rock outside home, it’s nonetheless sophisticated and put together with a bit of an edge.
Making Waves. Sexy, slightly tousled bed hair was all over the catwalks for Spring/Summer. Part down the middle with slight volume at the root and a soft brushed through curl at the ends. It’s hair you want to run your hands through over and over again. Babyliss Volume Waves is perfect for creating soft natural waves and adding volume to your style. Let your hair down or pin it up for a grungy, wavey up-do.
