S/S 14 beauty trends
October 3, 2013
One of the biggest months in the fashion calendar – with New York, London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks drawing to a close we’ve just had a sneak peek at what beauty looks we will be rocking next year. As ever at Shumaila’s we like to be ahead of the curve so why not try to embrace some of the key beauty trends from the catwalks? Well at Shumaila’s we like to help you out as much as we can so here is a rundown of some of the key S/S 14 beauty trends from the catwalks.
OK we’re pretty sure that the models were probably wearing makeup but that fresh faced natural look will be big next spring with Balmain, Diane von Furstenberg, Thakoon, Edun, Phillip Lim, Alexander Wan and Proenza Schouler showing off the look. If it’s a look you want to recreate it’s not about wearing no makeup but instead doing some ground work (might be a good idea to book in for some facials now) with a good primer and a subtle foundation so you are making the best of your natural complexion.
Rainbow eye makeup
At the other end of the spectrum it seems the focus will be on the eyes with bright and bold eyeshadows dominating the catwalks. From shades of blue at Badgley Mischka, Lime Green at Costello Tagliapietra, Magenta at Jeremy Scott and a cacophony of rainbow colours at Chanel the bright eye shadow look is perfect for bright summer’s days and time spent on the beach so have some fun with your shadows.
The braid and Ponytail
OK we know this isn’t exactly a new look but it looks like the braid and the ponytail are sticking around for a while. Plaited styles were seen on the catwalks of Rebecca Minkoff (where the models wore their hair in a plaited up do which would be perfect for next year’s wedding season), Karen Walker and Calla Paris.
While the ponytail was also riding high on the catwalk with Helmut Lang, Derek Lam and DKNY were just a few of the designers to put their models in ponytails which shows how versatile the look can be as it is a look that can be dressed up or down.
One of the most out there looks on the catwalk had to be the trend for stripey hair which was seen on the catwalk’s of Ohne Titel where the models had blonde hair with pink go-faster stripes. While on the Rodarte catwalk the models had zebra print hair with white stripes. While this look isn’t for the faint hearted if you want a truly unique look it could be one to try.
A new take on the French Mani
When it comes to nails the classic French Manicure is getting a revamp with Holmes & Yang showing a slanted tipped mani, an inverted half moon at Lela Rose and a pop of colour at the tip on the catwalk of Kate Spade you can really go to town with your manicure next season.
