It is the largest organ in the body and if your skin is looking good then you will feel great so how can you make sure your skin is in its best possible condition? Well at Shumaila’s we have a guide to better looking skin.
Think about what you put into your skin
I know you have probably heard it all before but when it comes to your skin you really are what you eat. So one of the best ways of ensuring your skin looks its best is to eat a good diet of fruit and vegetables as well as drinking plenty of water. That way you can ensure that your skin is getting all the nutrients it needs as well as being hydrated from within which is vital for healthy looking skin.
So if you feel your skin is lacking something it may be time to look at your diet. As well as making sure you are getting your five a day and eating a variety of colours of fruit and veg (each different colour has different nutrients so it is important to vary them) you should also make sure your diet is rich in things like Omega 3 oils – these are particularly good for your skin and will moisturise it from within. So make sure your diet include foods high in Omega 3 (it can be found in oily fish such as mackerel and salmon as well as in flaxseeds, walnuts and green vegetables).
Keep safe in the sun
As well as nourishing your skin from the inside you also need to protect it from the outside and one of the best ways of doing that is to protect it from the sun. UVA and UVB rays are incredibly damaging to the skin and are also very aging. With the current heatwave it can be tempting to be out in the sun as much as possible but if you are make sure you wear a good sunblock to help prevent your skin being damaged by the sun not only will it help stop you getting burnt it will also protect you from premature aging.
Change your pillowcase
One simple tip for keeping your skin looking great is to regularly change your pillowcase because when we sleep we drool and sweat all over our pillow cases which can cause spots and dull skin when we lie on them. Therefore, something as simple as changing your pillow case and washing your pillows regularly will help prevent acne breakouts.
Get the right skincare regime
Last but not least you need to make sure you are caring for your skin with the right skincare regime. You need to cleanse your skin morning and night as modern life can cause it to look dull and lifeless so it’s vital to remove the dirt of the day and wake up with a fresh clean face. You then need to think about the kind of moisturiser you are using as it needs to suit your skin type. While booking in for regular facials will help you identify any problem areas as well as giving your skin a good spring clean. What’s more your therapist will be able to advise you of the best aftercare regime and so you will have better looking skin as a result.
