Weeks 1–2 (Initial Healing)
The primary focus is protecting the incision. The lump is permanently removed, but the area will be slightly swollen. Keep the wound clean and avoid strenuous activity.
Weeks 3–4 (Suture Dissolution)

Months 2–3 (Scar Maturation)

No. A lipoma is a benign (non-cancerous) tumour made of fat cells. However, because they can occasionally mimic a rare malignant tumour called a liposarcoma, we send all excised lipomas for routine histopathology testing to provide complete peace of mind.
When surgically excised, the recurrence rate is extremely low (1–2%). This is because our surgeons remove the entire lipoma along with its fibrous capsule. If the capsule is left behind, the lipoma is highly likely to regrow.
There will be a scar, but our surgeons meticulously plan the incision along your natural skin tension lines to minimise its appearance. Over 6 to 12 months, the scar typically fades to a fine, pale line.
