Understanding Nose Tip Surgery (Tip Rhinoplasty)

Tip rhinoplasty is a highly specialised procedure focused exclusively on the cartilage of the lower third of the nose. At Shumaila's, our GMC-registered surgeons use precise techniques to reshape a bulbous, boxy, or drooping tip. Because the nasal bone is left completely untouched, the procedure is less invasive than a full rhinoplasty, resulting in significantly less bruising and a much faster recovery.

Cartilage Reshaping

  • The surgeon carefully sculpts the lower lateral cartilages to reduce width, improve symmetry, or refine a bulbous appearance

Tip Projection and Lifting

  • If the tip droops, especially when smiling, the cartilage is repositioned and supported to create a lifted, youthful angle

Open vs Closed Technique

  • Depending on the complexity, the procedure is performed either entirely inside the nostrils (closed) or with a tiny, invisible incision at the base of the nose (open)

Safe and Surgically Proven

Nose Tip Surgery (Tip Rhinoplasty) is a well-established procedure when performed by qualified surgeons under UK clinical governance.

At Shumaila’s London, all procedures are delivered by GMC-registered surgeons in CQC-registered environments, with individualised consent and aftercare.

Expect results in

Days 1–7

You will wear a small splint or tape over the nose tip to support the new shape. Swelling is present, but bruising is usually minimal compared to full rhinoplasty.

Weeks 2–4

The splint is removed. The majority of the visible swelling subsides, and you can comfortably return to work and normal social activities.

Months 2–3

The new shape of the tip becomes clearly defined as the deeper tissue swelling resolves. The nose looks natural and balanced with your facial features.

Months 6–12

The final, permanent result is established. The cartilage has fully settled into its new position, and any microscopic swelling has completely disappeared.

Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments so your surgeon can monitor your healing progress.

Frequent Asked Questions

Tip rhinoplasty only alters the cartilage at the end of the nose. Full rhinoplasty also involves breaking and reshaping the nasal bone to alter the bridge or correct a dorsal hump.
