Days 1–7
You will wear a small splint or tape over the nose tip to support the new shape. Swelling is present, but bruising is usually minimal compared to full rhinoplasty.
Weeks 2–4
The splint is removed. The majority of the visible swelling subsides, and you can comfortably return to work and normal social activities.
Months 2–3
The new shape of the tip becomes clearly defined as the deeper tissue swelling resolves. The nose looks natural and balanced with your facial features.
Months 6–12
The final, permanent result is established. The cartilage has fully settled into its new position, and any microscopic swelling has completely disappeared.

Frequent Asked Questions
Tip rhinoplasty only alters the cartilage at the end of the nose. Full rhinoplasty also involves breaking and reshaping the nasal bone to alter the bridge or correct a dorsal hump.
It is highly unlikely. Because the nasal bones are not broken during tip surgery, patients rarely experience the severe bruising or “black eyes” associated with full rhinoplasty.
Yes. A drooping tip is often caused by an overactive muscle or lack of cartilage support. The surgeon can release the muscle and reinforce the cartilage to keep the tip lifted.
If the closed technique is used, all incisions are inside the nostrils. If the open technique is required, a tiny incision is made across the columella (the tissue between the nostrils), which heals to be virtually invisible.
The results of nose tip surgery are permanent. Once the cartilage has healed in its new position, the refined shape will last a lifetime.
Yes. Because the nasal bridge is not altered or broken, you can usually wear lightweight glasses immediately after surgery, provided they do not rest heavily on the tip.
